What Is a
VRV Air Conditioning System?

VRV (or variable refrigerant volume) air conditioning system delivers just enough refrigerant to each connected indoor air conditioning unit to meet its cooling needs. Unlike other systems, a VRV system will detect when a room is no longer occupied and will stop sending that indoor unit refrigerant. As a result, this lowers its emissions and operating costs.

VRV air conditioning systems are large scale and can have up to sixty-four indoor units connected to just one outdoor unit, making them perfect for commercial buildings, offices and large apartment blocks. You can customise the location and layouts of the indoor units to best suit your location.

VRV air conditioning is one of the cheapest and most efficient ways to connect many indoor units to a single outdoor unit. This is why it is so popular among homes and businesses across Australia.

If this sounds like the custom air conditioning system you’ve been looking for, don’t keep waiting on it! Alliance Climate Control can install your custom VRV air conditioning system. Give us a call today to get the ball rolling.

How Does
VRV Air Conditioning Work?

VRV works by taking refrigerant in a compressor and sending it up through a range of coils in the outdoor unit. The refrigerant is turned from a vapour into a liquid through these coils.

From there, the refrigerant is sent to an external unit, which is connected to each indoor unit. This external unit contains a gas/liquid separator. This is used to separate any liquid and gas remaining within the refrigerant so that it can then be subcooled.

This is done to ensure that when the refrigerant is sent to the various indoor units, the refrigerant is still 100% liquid once it goes through the thermal expansion device.

Once the refrigerant returns from the various indoor units, it comes back in a mostly vaporous form. As it returns through the external unit, it’s stored in an accumulator. This accumulator acts as both a storage system for the vaporous refrigerant and a buffer to ensure any refrigerant still in liquid form is kept aside and doesn’t damage the interior components of the outdoor unit. From there, the refrigerant is stored until it’s needed again.

What Are the Benefits of
VRV Air Conditioning?

VRV air conditioning is a sophisticated system that can run over fifty indoor air conditioning units from a single outdoor unit. But the sheer size of a VRV air conditioning system isn’t the only attractive feature of the system. Many benefits come with installing a VRV system in your offices, apartment block or commercial building.

Here are some of the key advantages of VRV air conditioning:

Automatic Comfort

A VRV air conditioning system will automatically adjust the interior temperature of each room to a comfortable level. If a room is too hot or cold, the system will use a tiny amount of energy to send enough refrigerant to that unit to maintain a comfortable temperature in that room.

Additionally, this feature will automatically reduce the humidity in the air. The way the system can automatically adjust so many rooms at once to maintain a comfortable level is one of the biggest selling points for a VRV air conditioning system.

Cooling and Heating Provided

Unlike other air conditioning systems, a VRV air conditioning system can provide cooling and heating options. This system will passively heat or cool each connected room until it’s at the predetermined, comfortable level. That means no matter how hot or cold it is outside, it’s always going to be perfect in each room.

Silent Air Flow

Because the primary motor of a VRV air conditioning system is outside, it’s almost completely silent; no more noises and vibrations coming from loud indoor units. A VRV system will keep your room cool without disturbing your work or your sleep.

Energy Efficient Design

A VRV air conditioning system runs at a lower capacity for a smaller amount of time throughout the day, making it far more energy-efficient. This system harnesses and uses hot and cold air to regulate a specific indoor temperature. Because it’s harnessing already hot or cold air to maintain a constant temperature, it’s using far less energy than other fans and air conditioners would. Not only does that make it far more energy-efficient, but it’s cheaper to run as well.

Is VRV Air Conditioning
Right for Me?

VRV air conditioning systems are perfect for anyone wanting to maintain a comfortable temperature level in multiple rooms all year long. High comfort and low humidity are what this air conditioning system specialises in. So, if you are looking for a cooling system that produces consistent comfort levels, flexible zoning options and lower energy costs, the VRC air conditioning system is for you.

If you have a small, one-bedroom apartment, a VRV system will not be a great investment. But the more rooms you need cooled, and the more efficient a system you require, the more a VRV system becomes the perfect choice for you.

If you work in an industrial building, large office, hotel, or corporate building, VRV air conditioning may be perfect for you.

Is VRV Better
Than Multi-Split System Air Conditioning?

VRV Air Conditioning Installation

VRV air conditioning is better than multi-split air conditioning in larger buildings with many rooms. VRV air conditioning works similarly to multi-split air conditioning. Both connect multiple indoor units to a single outdoor compressor. The first major difference between the two types is that VRV air conditioning is built for large-scale buildings like large offices and hospitals, while multi-split systems are more commonly found in large homes and small office blocks.

VRV air conditioning systems are also incredibly quiet, so you won’t be disturbed during function. In addition, it will be able to detect and determine heat loads in different rooms and adjust accordingly. That means no more accidentally sweltering rooms, you’ll have the perfect temperature in every room, every time.

The other difference is that a multi-split gives you greater control over the temperature in each room, while a VRV system works best to maintain a constant, comfortable temperature and humidity across multiple rooms. If you are looking for an air conditioning system for a large home, a multi-split system may be better, while a VRV system will be far more effective in a large office block

Is VRV Better Than
Ducted Air Conditioning?

VRV and ducted air conditioning are often compared because they both allow for independent cooling for each room it is connected to. However, there are marked differences between VRV and ducted air conditioning.

In most situations, VRV air conditioning is better than ducted air conditioning. Here at Alliance Climate Control, we have worked with both systems for decades and are confident in recommending VRV air conditioners to our clients.

VRV air conditioners can independently cool or heat rooms the same way ducted systems can, without the need for the ductwork itself. In addition, VRV systems can connect to different indoor units, making it far more flexible than traditional ducted systems. VRV air conditioning systems also have the ability to heat and cool at the same time, giving VRV owners unmatched customisation and flexibility with their indoor climate control.

As one of the leading names in VRV air conditioner installations, the team here at Alliance Climate Control are proud to provide efficient VRV cooling to homes across the state. We have decades of experience performing VRV air conditioner installations in Sydney, and we will have no trouble installing yours.

From the moment Liam arrived to give us a quote the whole process was seamless and so professional. Great price and perfectly designed for our house. I cannot speak highly enough of the installers. The installation of my mother-in-law's split-system went better than expected, a good team with B.J., Daniel and the others, from the quotation to the electrician, doing a quick turnaround with minimal noise and mess. The previous system and all materials were removed along with all packaging. Thanks guys.

Jason and his team at Alliance were professional, punctual and transparent with all the works and fees required. They were responsive and fast with diagnosing, fixing and servicing our air conditioning units on the same day. They also gave us multiple options to keep costs as low as possible which is wonderful considering all works had itemised pricing so that level of transparency was very much appreciated. Thank you and would highly recommend!
James A.
Even the word “outstanding” wouldn’t be a strong enough adjective to describe the professionalism, responsiveness, thoughtfulness and quite possibly unmatched competence of this organisation. This is the second time I’ve engaged their services to rectify issues with my apartment’s ducted air conditioning system and will absolutely do so again.
Peter C.

This company did a great job in changing over our ageing ducted system. The whole process from the initial enquiry, visit from the technician and the installation team was second to none. Alliance provided regular updates and ensured that communication was clear and costs were transparent. A great example of quality workmanship and professional customer service.
Jennifer L.
Alliance installed aircon to our 2 storey 1970s house. The team - Thomas, Gokhan, Dragan, Emre and led by Yunus, were fantastic, from arriving on time to leaving the house perfectly clean after the installation process. They went about everything professionally and expertly, always keeping us informed as they progressed through the various stages, and clearly explaining how the system would be configured and how it operates. They dealt with challenges such as working at heights, their workmanship inside and out was expert and immaculate. They were a pleasure to have in our home. Our great thanks to Yunus for all his thoughtful guidance and each of the team, who all went out of their way to ensure a remarkable job, exceeding our expectations.
Julian S.
Very professional and thorough. No damage and all mess cleaned up. New air con working flawlessly.
Mitchell R.

chris P.
Extremely helpful, the team that installed the New air conditioning fantastic they went out of there way, also cleaning up afterwards. Big shout out to Yunus 👍
Linden D.
The team at Alliance were incredible - professional, helpful and knowledgeable in all aspects of the job. From quote to service on site, the Alliance team made us feel as though we were the most important people in their business. There was no pressure to buy - they simply presented us with options that were both cost effective and were tailored to meet the unique needs of our property. The instal team - Yunus, Gothan and Emie- were incredible. They protected our space with considerable care and did an amazing job - even ensuring our pets were comfortable and not disturbed by the noise of instal, dust or their work. Yunus led his team well and was extremely knowledgeable- happy to share that knowledge with us to ensure we made the most of the air con unit they installed. To be honest the air con unit became less the focus of our experience with Alliance - really my rating is for the Alliance team and their amazing attention to first rate service and focus on the customer as an individual. Did we get a good product and value for money - yes, definitely. But it is the total experience of working with the Alliance team that we will remember and tell others about. Hence this rather long google review. Every word is true. They’re great.
LuLu S
Alliance were recommended to us by friends. James, the sales guy, came out and gave us a few options for our a/c installation. I never, at any point, felt pressured to use their company but I'm glad I did. We chose a multi head Panasonic which suited our house restrictions. You can control it using the normal remote or an App. Which is good for when your kid forgets to turn it off and you aren't home!

The communication was excellent with Alliance every step of the way (sales, accounts, schedulers, installers, electricians etc) and we were very happy with the final installation by Yunus, Gokhan, Dragan and Thomas. Everyone was polite, neat and seemed to know what they were doing.

Alliance were able to the whole job, including electrical work. Very convenient and recommended. Thanks.
Kim H.
I was very happy with very professional work done in installing my aircon units . Very clean & careful with my furniture &unit. The whole crew were good Yumus, Gokhon,Emre plus the units are a lot quieter then expected & I love that they match the outside with colour bond cover over the the pipe. They had all the diagrams & certificates for strata & also electricians. So have no trouble recommending this company.

We had our air con installed. From initial consultation to final installation took less than 2 weeks. Jake, Yunus, Gotham, Emre and their team has been exceptionally great. The sales consultation was thorough and easily understood. Jake was personable, personable and communicative.

Yunus's installation team was prompt, and engaging. The installation took no time at all and best of all, the place was cleaned up and spotless by the time they are done.
